The 2025 SuperMotocross World Championship finale at Las Vegas Motor Speedway delivered everything fans hoped for: drama, history, and two unforgettable champions. Under the bright lights of The Strip, the sport’s best riders battled for glory — and some of the largest payouts in motorsports.
Jett Lawrence Claims Third Straight 450SMX Title 🏆
Team Honda HRC Progressive’s Jett Lawrence secured his third consecutive 450SMX World Championship, becoming the only rider to ever win the title in the class’s short history. After taking the victory in Moto 1, Jett dug deep in Moto 2 with a late push to grab second place. His (1-2) scoreline was enough to earn the overall win on the night and lock down the championship — along with a $1 million bonus.
His brother, Hunter Lawrence, came into the weekend with a chance at the title despite battling illness. Hunter claimed victory in Moto 2, but with a third in Moto 1, his (3-1) result left him second overall and second in the championship standings. He walked away with a $500,000 runner-up bonus.
Eli Tomac of Monster Energy Yamaha Star Racing was strong all night, finishing third overall with (2-3) moto scores, good enough for third in the championship as well.
Jo Shimoda Makes History in the 250SMX Class
In the 250SMX class, it was Jo Shimoda who stole the show and made history. With determined riding and fearless aggression, Shimoda claimed the overall victory and the 250SMX World Championship, becoming the first Japanese rider to win an SMX title.
The second moto delivered pure chaos with Shimoda battling through aggressive moves from Haiden Deegan, Seth Hammaker, and others. Despite a late-race tangle, Shimoda remounted quickly and fought back to second in the moto, which was enough to take both the event win and the championship crown.
